New rca la30rqd flatscreen tv, I can't get it set up.I switched it on and it showed blue screen for about 2 secs then it switched off. Put a DVD in the player and i got sound but no picture. Now the dvd is stuck. Please help ,a return to retailer would be a nightmare as this thing has just been shipped to the Caribbean.
Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only... Initially, blue screen is indicative of video mute; i.e. the RCA is unable to detect an intelligent video signal and thus rather than display distortion or nothing, shows blue screen. Thereafter, powersaving mode takes over (since no signal) and auto-turns off. Offhand, has any of the below listed possible workarounds been considered/tried?
Thanks for the reply, it'll be a few hours before I am able to try your suggestions but as there is No television service to connect to should I connect another dvd player to the tv so solve the auto-turn off?
That would be a good idea of providing another external AV source. Please post back how things tunred up.
Ok...None of the above has worked although I have not removed the disc/drive. I added another external AV source to no avail ,the blue screen is not even on long enough to select an input . It has a box in the top right with D12-1 AIR .Worst case, I could hook up another dvd player if only I could get the TV to turn on.
The RCA appears to be set to digital TV mode. All the easy user doable tries have been applied and none was corrective nor helpful. As such, an internal hardware issue has to be strongly considered. The unit would have to be opened up for visual inspection, voltage measurements, confirm fault and effect repairs. Are you then considering a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair approach? Are you familiar with electronic components, have access to / comfortable in the use of a multimeter and perhaps even a soldering iron/hot-air station? Please post back how you would want to approach this and/or should you need additional information.
Well thanks for your efforts. I will not be attempting any DIY as I have no experience of that sort of thing. I think I'll just throw the question out there incase anybody else has any ideas.
Thanks again

Hi, I've actually been trying to both, rate the answer and relist the question and I keep getting sent back to the page with the question I asked. I've been looking for the "Faces" to rate the response and can't find them.So yes, please re-list the question .
Sorry for delayed response. We ended up having to return the TV to the manufacturer, I received a full refund as the TV could not be repaired.
