I have a Bush A626 flat screen t.v and an ASDA brand 5.1 home theatre system, model SW5806, and I have been unable get the system to work through the audio input, would you be able to help?
On the back of the TV, what do you see as far as a jack labeled "Audio Output"?
There may be Red and White RCA jacks, but likely they are all labeled "Inputs". What you need is an output. The jack may also be labeled "Optical" or "SPDIF". Please tell me what jack your TV has, and describe it if you're not sure.
Additionally, for "Audio Inputs" what does the ASDA system have on the back?
There is one next to the red and white labeled as SPDIF. On the back of the ASDA unit there is a an AUX and DVD input.
This is the problem. The TV only uses an SPDIF Output which is "Digital" and the Home Theater receiver only uses Analogue RCA style connections. The workaround is to purchase a Digital to Analogue Audio converter which will connect to the TV's SPDIF Output and then give you a set of RCA Output jacks that you can then connect to the Home Theater. The link to the device you need is below:

Ok, is there an extra cable for the SPDIF that will be required/recommended?
Yes, you would need an Optical Cable to connect between the TV and converter below:

Ok, thank you. I will be able to purchase these tomorrow and will leave feedback afterwards.
Ok.
