I have a Toshiba Dvd Player & Video Cassette Recorder model no. SD-23VB-S-TB purchased in September 2003. The Question is: I wanted to copy onto a dvd disk a programme from my Planner on Sky HD Box but it would not record. The Dvd disk I used was a Verbatim DVD-R. Is this because my existing equipment is not digital? Could you advise and if my equipment is not too old can you advise how I copy programmes onto a DVD Disk. Also if I was to keep my old equipment and decided I wanted a Blu Ray/DVD player ( a blu ray player that plays my ordinary dvds as well as blu ray) would I be able to attach it to the current equipment and could you advise which Player would be suitable?
Hi,The HD Sky box is a DVR (digital video recorder) device - is that correct? If so - you cannot record that program to a DVD if it is recorded on a DVR (they are both digital). The problem is copy once protection. This means that once a program is recorded digitally - it cannot be recorded again - as there is a signal in the program that prevents it from being recorded a second time. This is because of copy right restrictions - that allow DVRs, or recording once to a DVD to be done - but not allowed again. Unlike the older VCR tapes - digital recording does not lose any information (quality) and pirated copies can be made and sold. Thanks,Rod
