Customer Question

Hello..I've just bought a Sony Bravia TV. I've got a Sky-Plus box but have so far been unable to tune in the Sky channels on the new Tv . The Tv seems to "recognise" them but is unable to show them. There's also a video cassette recorder in the mix. Previously I had a Black Diamond Tv and managed to get all the units working together harmoniously, but with with the new Tv, I am unable to work out which cable goes where. What should the various connections be?..Thanks....

Optional Information:
Make: sony
Model: bravia

Already Tried:
Just chopping and changing the connections without success.

Hello
Welcome
Thanks for using JustAnswer

I will need to know what cables you are using hdmi/scart/component?

Anthony

Hello Anthony..I'm sorry but I'm not a technically-minded guy..I would say I'm using "old-fashioned" cables, so I suppose that means "component"..I'm pretty sure they are not hdmi, because I haven't had HD television, until now.. I tried scart but it didn't work for me.

Hi

Are you using sky + HD or sky +?

I will need to know all this info if I am too help thanks

If your using just sky+ then you will be ok using the scart leads

Anthony

Customer replied 334 days and 13 hours ago.

I am using Sky Plus. But using the scart leads does not solve the problem (I've tried it).

HI

Well theirs no reason why the scart leads wont work if I describe to you waht to do let me know were your going wrong

1 Plug scart lead in sky + other end into TV
2 Switch on the sky box and the TV
3 With the TV remote control pick out the input using the input button of the TV remote so you may have to keep pressing this input button until you reach the desired input
4 You should see some notification on screen that its sky+

Let me know what happens when you do that

If you dont get anything go into the setiings of the sky box and make sure the scart is set to priority

We will get to the video later

Hi..I did what you suggested. The inputs listed were,Digital, Analogue, AV1, AV2, HDMI1, HDMI2, Component, and PC..They all produced the same message "No Signal"..Under Digital there was the additional message "Selected programme is not tuned""

You say "if you don't get anything, go into the settings of the sky box and make sure the scart is set to priority".....I can't do this as nothing from the sky box is appearing on the TV screen.

Hi

Theirs something wrong concerning the sky box, you should at least be getting a blue screen from the box I really cant imagine this to be the TV, have you got a dvd player?just hook that upto the scart and see if that works if it does then you definetly have an issue with the sky box

Let me know

Hi

Well theirs nothing being generated by the box fo some reason , I think the box has component output too however I think you tried that too?

Best letting sky sort the box out

The set is in the clear because its working through scart

Thanks Anthony..I just had a local Tv dealer here and apparently the problem was that you have to go back to the factory settings and opt for the Sky Ireland system at the very beginning, rather than Sky UK (I'm in Ireland)..You couldn't possibly know that..Thanks very much for your help..
