Customer Question

My new HD Freeview Humax box HDR Fox T2 1TB doesnt work through the HDMI connection to my TV (2008, Samsung 42 inch plasma). It works OK through the AV cable but this isnt an HD picture. This is the second Humax box in a week with the same problem! I have tried turning on/off different HDMI cables and sockets on the TV. I know the HDMI socket on the TV is OK because my blue ray player still works. Please help!

Hi There,

This is quite a strange issue, I'm guessing it might be down to HDCP on the HDMI connection, does any error show on screen when you try to use the HDMI connection ?

Could you provide me with the model number of your samsung set, I'll check and see if any firmware updates are available that might fix this issue.

Hi There,

I've checked for firmware updates on the samsung site and none are listed, it might be worth calling and letting samsung know that the issue appears to be HDCP based, and they might have a fix that they can send out for you.

You might also want to try a reset of your TV set:

Put TV on standby and then push in series these buttons on the remote: 'info, menu, mute, power' the TV will then turn itself on and display a menu.

Press the 'down arrow' untill you've highlighted option 12 - 'reset' and then press the 'right arrow' to enter the option. TV will turn off and when you turn back on it will start in 'plug & play' mode as if new.

Hope this helps.

James
