Can't open the fuel cover flap - pulling on the lever does

Customer Question

Can't open the fuel cover flap - pulling on the lever does not release the flap. No idea why.
JA: Has the vehicle turned into a gas hog? And how does it start -- same as usual?
Customer: Starting, running etc all normal. Just can't open the flap.
JA: What is the model/year of your Nissan?
Customer: 9 months old. Factory new Qashqai
JA: What year is your Nissan?
Customer: Jan 2016
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Haven't tried anything yet. Just experienced not being able to open it at the petrol station so brought it home and trying to figure out what could be wrong.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: don't think so, thanks

Hello and welcome to Justanswer!

The problem may be with the cable, the latch itself, or there may have been something foreign closed in the fuel door which is binding the latch. If you're in a very cold climate then it could also be frozen.

Is the vehicle out of warranty for some reason?
