Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

It sounds as if you may be describing clutch chatter. Clutch chatter at a shift point either indicates clutch damage, leakage or degraded fluid. If it only happens at certain shift points then individual clutches are suspect but it sounds as if a dealer has already diagnosed the problem as being the torque converter clutch. If they said the converter needs to be replaced then it sounds as if they determined that what you're feeling is torque converter clutch chatter.

The problem has been diagnosed already?
