good morning my name is ***** ***** I will assist

how old is the clutch???

have you checked the fluid level???

how many miles on the van???

I don't know how old the clutch is ,oil needs a change and is just over its fill level and its miles are 90779
this problem is intermittent ,about 1 out of 5 times you have to fight to get it in second and forth has started to slip but you can reengage it and go's ok
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

ok, thanks, ***** ***** issue is 4th gear. popping out of gear is an indicator of a worn synchronizer ring. when they wear, they will tend to pop out of gear and can be re engaged only to happen again. the remedy is to have the syncro replaced. it requires removal of the trans and dis assembly to replace the parts. at that time,it would be best to inspect all the others as well as replacing the clutch.

what about the fight to get in second
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

that may also be something internal. if it were the clutch, it would be the same in all gears trying to shift

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
why doesn't it slip out all the time and only forth
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

4th gear is the syncro failure. 2nd gear has not become that bad yet
