Customer: Sorry, I hit the return button too quickly... My 1999 4.0 V8 XJ has a small problem... the car won't lock from the handset and the driver's window has stopped working. I've just replaced both batteries in the handset but that hasn't helped! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok then this should be the remote fob itself that will need to be replaced. There is the manual procedure to program the new one to the vehicle.
