Hi there good afternoon to you and Iam very sorry for the delayed response I couldn't access your question

Ok to replace the alternator on the 1.8tdci takes around 1.5 - 2 hours labour

Firstly you need to remove the accesory drive belt by moving the tensioner

Remove the top air intake hose And the drivers wheel and inner wheel arch liner

The tensioner setup varies on the 1.8 tdci

Some you need to insert a bolt into a threaded hole to move the tensioner and the other setup you need to use a lever or a long spanner as we use a special tool to slacken the tensioner to remove the belt

After the belt has been removed you need to remove the 3 bolts from the air con compressor and then low the compressor to drop down

Next remove the dummy pulley /shaft from the alternator

This is held by 3 x10 mm bolts and then slacken 3x8mm bolts at the alternator coupling and pull the dummy shaft away /outward from the alternator

Next remove the 2x10 mm long bolts that secure the alternator to the engine

Then remove the main alternator feed wore and small multiplug and remove the alternator

I have attached a few images to assist you
