at random the circuits all work ok until the engine is started. then fuse blows. replaced fuse with lamp to save on cost of fuses!! and spend more time on fault tracing. I am a retired electrician with a wide range of experience in other fields.

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

A fuse blows because of high draw on a circuit, either a short to ground or high current draw in a component. If you aren't using any of the items that the fuse powers when it blows then there is a short to ground in the wiring somewhere at that time.

How did you determine that there wasn't a short?
