A flickering battery light is a good sign of a bad voltage regulator in the alternator .
To check hook up a voltmeter to the battery and check the battery voltage.
Then start the car and and check the voltage should be 14 +/- .5 voltage ..
If the battery has only battery voltage with the engine running then you have a bad alternator .
