There are about 3 items that are common on this engine .

Have you had any intermittent issues or has the light and limp mode happened without warning .

what mileage do you have on the car and what type of journeys do you do , short or etc?

regards rob

36 miles per day, dual carriageway, glow plug light flashed intermittently for a day, this gave limp mode but reset on restart, today exhaust light on permanently and limp mode3000 max rpm, no glow plug light anymore

Thanks for your reply.

This is possibly a fault with the diesel particulate filter this is a type of catalyst but for diesels these engines normally do a regeneration of this filter when it detects a certain percentage of soot build up . This regeneration can be done with most aftermarket diagnostic equipment it is is called a static regeneration. Do you have a local garage that you trust?

Ok, possibly what I thought, it hasn't tried an auto regen, so I have a friend who has vagcom and can do a static regen

It would be of help if you can get the fault code from him and let me know if i can assist you further.
