Rover 45 1.6 o2 reg. Fuel system problem I found that the fuel feed pipe from the filter to the injectorrail had come apart at the quick release couplling .Every thing in the engine had been undisturbed for 18 months so it could n't have been a case of not being connected properly. Can you give me advice as what could have caused it
HelloIf you closely examine the joint I'd say its likely that the plastic clip that retains the joint is likely to have lost its sharp edges and can then walk loose due to engine vibrationAs these joints age the plastics stiffen up and the rubber o-ring thats seals and helps lock them together also stiffens upI'd suggest trying a replacement o-ring 1st inside the coupling otherwise you'll have to purchase a new pipe assembly350matt41089.6040828356
Not knowing just how this Qestion /answer worked I was hoping that I would be able to discuss my thoughts as to what may have happened. So here they are On the second day of my holiday I was hit in the back which did quite a fair bit of damage to the metal work behind the plastic bumper then 5 days later after driving quite a few miles the petrol pipe came adrift could the bump be responsible.Secondly my other thought was that maybe the pressure regulator on the end of the injector feed pipe had developed a fault which may have caused a high pressure to develope ,
HelloThe process is the site takes a deposit from you at the beginning and this is held by the site until you press accept at which point the cash is split between the site and the expert. so if my answers have been helpful please press accept. If you don't press accept then you can use the cash at a later date to ask another question. However you can keep asking questions on the same post as the process is supposed to a be a dialogue with information going back and forth to solve the problemto return to your issue yes I'd suspect that the bump / accident is the main cause as this sort of thing can shock fixings loose so look into replacing the fitting o-ring as I've suggested I doubt the pressure regulator has suddenly gone bad has they tend to fail with low pressure rather than going high however there should be a test point on the fuel rail that looks like a tyre valve and you can measure fuel pressure here with the engine running it should be 3 bar
