Customer Question

My Sabaru Legacy diesel clutch has failed at 10,000 miles , the car is one and half years old .
I live in the Isle of Skye and driving on the island and due to the hilly aspect requires more gear changes etc . IS this a common failure? , I do not use the car to tow anything .

MY previous car were sabaru Legacy ( petrol ) and a Forester which I ran for 9 years without a failure . I am 70 + years old . Please let me have your comment , am i expecting to much from the car?

Thanks for your assistance Bill Egerton

Hello and Welcome to justanswer...

I truly sympathise with you - especially if all you are getting from the dealer is, "its driver issue / fault "- as we so often hear !

Its not a common fault with that make / model no - you have suffered a premature failure - and if you dont tow - and dont drive slipping the clutch so that it has burned out due to "driving technique" - ( another phrase we hear ).... then it is premature failure of the clutch mechanism.

Im afraid it will have to be stripped - and the chances are they will try to say the above ( if they haven't already - )... but you will have to stand your ground - and disagree. Too - at that point, you will need to insist that the contact Subaru Uk direct -so that they send someone to check / assess the clutch / faults - and go from there.

They wont offer to do the above - you will have to insist - but that is the best way to get recompense for this situation... again - we have this complaint very often - with all makes of vehicle - and with new-ish cars with low mileage - 8-9 times out of 10 , its proven to be faulty materials causing premature failure - so its worth standing your ground as above.

Im very pleased to have helped you - Let me know if I can help anymore...
