Hi,

if i recall correctly, the side airbags are installed in the doors? If you've had the A-post connection separated at some point the airbag ECU will have detected an open circuit and will display the warning lamp. If that is the case then you'll need to have fault memory cleared.

there are no airbags in the doors, i have taken off the trim to check, no room with all the speakers( all factory fitted), could there be crash senors fitted in the doors, although i cant trace any wiring for these.

This is a mk5 golf? Then there will be crash sensors inside the doors.

yes it is a mk 5, 04 plate, how do i clear the fault memory? i take it i have to take it to a dealer for them to plug the computer in.

Not necessarily your dealer, any well equipped garage can do it for you for much much less.
