Hello and Welcome to justanswer....

Have you had any lights on the dash while driving - if so - please describe them.....

Too - you mention in the Already Tried section -- "fuse battery" -- - what do you mean by that exactly ?

Rgds, MIKE........................................

Customer replied 335 days ago.

i looked at the fuses and tested the battery.

if you take battery lead off for 60 sec then put it on the car starts for 1 or 2 seconds then dies and will not start again

but i dont get any lights on the dash at all

Hello again - thank you for your reply and info..

The steering system on these are electric - electronic - From what you say, the car has developed a charging system fault - and when that happens, the battery weakens as you drive.....and you will get the loss of steering etc-

Further - if you have the situation now whereby you have charged the battery..and the car starts - but runs only for a few secs and stops - and this keeps on happening - then you have an immobilser problem now . This will have been caused by either the battery going flat - or, it being disconnected. Its unfortunate that that has happened if it has - because your only way forward with this is to have a garage plug in suitable diagnostic equipment to one trace the faults down - and two, reprogram the immobilser system so that the car will start and run properly.

If you have not charged the battery fully then do that first - Ensure its fully charged - then lock / unlock the car with the remote / key fob - and then try to see if it will start and run properly - It might do then... as that can reset it , but IF not - then you will need to do as above Im afraid...

Im very pleased to have helped you - Let me know if I can help anymore...

Customer replied 335 days ago.

someone said that it might need a new key or a dash cluster. as we have tried both keys and it does the same. is there anyway of resetting the immobilser( tempary) without pluging in a computer so we can drive it to garage

Hello again - thank you for your reply -

It does depend yes on exactly whats failed here- The immobilser system on these comprise the key (s) , cluster etc - Its rare that the cluster would need replacing if its just happened because the battery went flat or was disconnected or that the key/s would fail. Too - even more unlikely that both keys would fail..

But Im afraid there is just no way to bypass these- they are extremely secure systems - they are not designed to be bypassed for security sake - Some cars you can admittedly - but not these.

I would suggest working through as above - re the battery / charge system first - just in case it is only that - and it will reset doing as I have outlined-

IF it wont have it - then yes you will need the diagnostics Im afraid - but depending where you are, there are companies - mobile auto locksmiths - that are equipped with all that is needed - that can come to you and sort this for you. A local google or yell.com search will find same - that would save you having to have the car towed.

I hope that helps you further - Let me know if I can help anymore at all -

Best Rgds- MIKE.
