Peugeot 206 the engine diagonstics warning light came on whilst

Resolved Question:

the engine diagonstics warning light came on whilst driving my peugeot 206(2003) this evening, l continued to drive it for another 5 miles home, is it likely to have damaged anything? is it safe to drive to nearest garage (10 miles) tomorrow? l check the oil level every week was last checked 6 days ago

Hi there and welcome to JA.COM, i will try to assist you with your problem,if your car is driving normally and not misfiring, no coolant or oil leaks then yes, it will be ok to drive, but as you said, it would be a good idea to have your cars ECU code read to determine the fault stored, hope this helps, kindest regards martin.

what do you mean by misfiring? on stopping the car at the end of the journey the exhaust seemed to be choking a bit.

what is meant by incorrect operation of the injection, ignition or emission control system?( as suggested in manual) what is the risk of damage to catalytic convertor?

Hi there, if your engine is idling unevenly or lumpy, this will cause unburnt fuel to enter your catalytic converter, thus possible damage to it, so if your engine sounds ok then i would take it to the garage, but if your engine is as stated above i would get it relayed there, hope this helps, kindest regards martin.
