- the error code is P1340 as this code is for : cylinder number 4 misfiring.

And it does not refer to any camshaft position sensor.

all the code tables i've looked at today, about 10 different ones all show as camshaft position sensor? why would that be?

Well i first looked at Bosch tables, and could not find any P1340 for your model.....

then i looked on Citroen tables.....

i,ve found it on citroen tables but want to know if i should replace sensor or maybe the timing belt could have stretched a bit

this is the same table i've seen repeated on every site i've visited

Well....the table i got from Citroen SEDRE (official citroen service manual)...........however, i have posted the wiring diagram, and now you may check the sensor wiring.......

Billy :

First check if connections are good.....and then check continuity on three wires on sensor plug (to ECU and to MAP)

Billy :

the sensor should get + on terminal 1 and - on terminal 3

Billy :

It should provide a positive 5 volt square signal if plugged and engine on............put one pin on terminal 2 of sensor, and the other oscilloscope pin on ground..........and you should get a square signal (5 volts max and 0 volts min)

Billy :

Once you have checked the wiring, and the sensor signal....you know if any is faulty........and if not,,,,,you should look elsewhere......as in belt being stretched........
