Customer Question

I have a 51' Peugeot 2.0 HDI.

The speedo needle is stuck on 110, and the car seems to think that it is 0. Even when the car's ignition is turned off it stays on 110. It DOES move up though when driving - covering my mileage as it does.

I was told it could either be a bad earth wire, but wondered if I could get the glass panel off, physically pull the needle back to 0 and reset using the hold button??

Country: United Kingdom
Make: Peugeot
Model: 307
Year: 2001
Engine: 2.0 HDI

Already Tried:
Starting up the car, the reset option with the speedo button.

Billy :

Hello and welcome to JA!!!

Billy :

I'm Billy and i will help you with this.

Billy :

You most probably have a problem with the needle mechanism......

Billy :

So i do not think it is an earthing (or electrical) problem, since the mileage adds up to the 110 correctly.

Billy :

You do not need to use any buttons (hold or other).....

Billy :

You may remove the glass (you will need a strong, thin, plastic spatula or equivalent).

Billy :

You use the spatula to pry out the glass, one side, and then the other (it is held by plastic clips, that might break if you come too strong).

Billy :

Once you remove the glass, simply rotate the needle back to zero.......and start the vehicle, and try it.....

Billy :

Happy new year!

Billy :

Regards,
