Customer: replied 8 years ago.
sorry, 1.9 tdi diesel sport has 2 belts one is the timing belt and the other is the one that turns the alternator, the pulley is fitted to the tensioner on this auxilary belt
Expert:  Matt replied 8 years ago.

First thing to do is to release the tension on the belt , on the tensioner there will either be be a square hole for a 3/8" drive ratchet / breaker bar or you put a socket onto the centre nut of the pulley.
Move the tensioner anticlockwise against its spring to relax the belt and remove it.

belt run is as image

with the belt offf you shoudl see the bolts holding on the tensioner body to the engine block, undo these bolts and the entire tensioner will come away.

If you then want to replace the pulley you can now secure the tensioner body in a vice to undo the centre nut and replace the pulley
