Customer Question

I have a Diplomat APL5706 Range oven and the oven has stopped working.
Power is still present but the oven, fan, grill, lights and thermostat lights no longer work.
I have changed the oven selector as I thought this may be the problem but the fault remains.
Have checked for power coming from the timer and this is still present.
I do not have instructions or a wiring diagram to be able to check it.
Can you help?

The wire coming from the timer has power you say; where is that wire connected to?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
See photo of wire diagram sketch

Check for power at '8a' on the Selector switch and then once the selector is turned, check for power at '8' on the selector (as per your image)

Hi George, I am back now
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Power is on 8a, nothing on 8 in the off position, but when knob is turned to on there is power on 8
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Thermostat light does not light up. I can hear the thermostat click as soon as I turn the temp selector from 0
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Just noticed that thermostat light is on dimly in the 0 position when oven is selected, but goes off as soon as turned from 0

Was checking all of the contacts for the switch and all open and close as they should. Have sent you the grid that I was going to fill in the switch closing and then fill in whether it has power through the 7 terminals. In off, no power as you would expect, but when switched in any position, it appears that power is on in all positions even though contacts are open. Does this mean the wires are shorting somewhere?

Thanks Alan,

Can you trace the wire for your image marker '3' on timer and on switch (which you have marked as 1a & 1)..

Is it a neutral?

Does it go back to source on timer?

Where do the switch wires head to?

I wont be back now until tomorrow evening... Sorry, but important work to do in Manchester tomorrow.

If you are opening up to check info.. try take some photos of the switch/wiring & the timer connections

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
No problem, once my wife has finished cooking on the hobs, will pull the oven out, open it up and try and trace where the wires go.

How are you getting on with this Alan?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Hi George,
Took the back off to find some burned connectors
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Have cleaned the connectors and checked elsewhere and can't find any other issues, but now when I plug the cooker in the electrics trip
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Just some other notes on cable numbers
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Regarding your previous questions. Wire 3 from timer motor goes to 1a and then out at 1 as wire number 6. Yes I believe it is a neutral. 6 runs to multi block and then on to bulbs for oven
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Wire 2 from timer switch runs to 8a of selector which comes out of 8 as wire 5 this then goes to the terminal block where it burnt the connector. 5 then goes on to the elements and bulbs

Are you there?

Sorry going to have to get an engineer in, this is taking too long
