Customer Question

We have a whirlpool adg7550 which is making a horrendous grinding noise when you turn it on. It's also not cleaning properly. We've cleaned and checked every bit we can see.
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Whirlpool is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: About twelve years; I have no idea where the model number is!
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Not necessarily me but someone in the house.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Not that I can think of.

The grey pipe inside also pops out of place during its cycle but there's no obvious cause.

Hi my name is ***** ***** is the horrendous noise on start up or once the appliance has filled with water?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
At start up but it continues through the cycle.
Expert:  bonzaco replied 8 months ago.

OK are we talking intermittently during the cycle or constantly?

OK a quick test if you would, I need you to place the spray bars (both) facing front to back at 90 degress to the door. I then want you to put the appliance on a wash program and start it. Let it run for afew minutes and then open the door and tell me if you see the spray bars rotating?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
I'm not on the house right now but will as soon as I'm home.

OK I'm home for the night although wont be infront of the screen all the time, drop me a note when your around - Ian

No they're not.

OK you have two pumps in a dishwasher, the circulating pump which circulates the water to wash the pots and the discharge or drain pump which drains the water out of the appliance. From what you have told me you have a problem with the circulating pump. If you need me to take you through the repair I can do but you will need to get the appliance somewhere where you can work around it and with room to tip it onto its back.

It's an integral dishwasher.
Expert:  bonzaco replied 8 months ago.

Then you will have to remove it from its cabinet and put it in an area to work around it like the garage or garden.

That's going to require someone to help me and can't be done tonight.

OK look forward to your further contact.
