Customer Question

Buzzing at bottom/ back of American style fridge freezer, noise stops when door to fridge is opened. Start when closed or light button pressed
JA: Just to clarify, what's the make and model of the appliance? And has it done this before?
Customer: Samsung side by side, not sure on model. Has DA99-00494v on owners manual.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Not done before, coincidently left freezer door ajar the day before, very little defrosted, but next day buzzing started.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Well looking on Internet, one suggestion was the board in the white box, and was not difficult? What you think
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Appliance Technician about your situation and then connect you two.

If this is a samsung side by side appliance and you hear the noise inside the fridge and it stops when the door is open then its going to be the fan inside the fridge at fault here.

As what will have happened is ice has built up around the fan which is causing the noise. So you will find the fridge will start to loose its cooling in there.

What you need to do is either empty the fridge section and then from there you need to remove the plastic housing unit inside the fridge in the bottom half.

Remove the water bottle (if fitted) and you will see 2 screws at the bottom of the panel.

Then remove the vent covers and theres a screw ther eon each side and then you can remove the panel. Just disconnect the wiring.#

Then you need to use a hairdryer and melt all the ice in there and clear the fan as well. Then refit the panel and retry it and that should sort it from there.

Or another way if you dont want to go removing panels you need to empty the appliance and turn it off for 24 hours and leave the fridge door open.

Then after 24 hours turn it back on and this will get the appliance working again from there. This is a very common fault on these samasung side by side appliances as we see this fault a lot.

So try the above and see how it goes from there.
