My freezer has had an unusual buzzing noise & have found

Customer Question

My freezer has had an unusual buzzing noise & have found some of the food ( ie bread is soft) I have turned it onto fast freezer but appears to be no change. There is some build up of ice at the top. Freezer is nearly 6 years old

Could you advise if the buzzing stops when the door is opened and secondly can you give me its full model number please.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Buzzing does not stop if door opened. Model number TZDA 504 F Beko frost free

Iss the buzzing for a period of time followed by a click?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
No it is continual

OK from the information that you have given me it seems that the evaporator (the thing that produces the cold air) is likely frozen up or the defrost timer has jammed. You need to get your stuff put somewhere else (another freezer) whilst the appliance defrosts and you can retry its operation. Plug out and towels around the door to catch the defrosting ice.

There is only a small amount of ice at the top of the top section so it is not totally frosted up. I have no other freezer to move the food into. If this is the problem is it repairable or is it cheaper to buy a new one. I had my last freezer for about 15 years.

OK one final check, if you open the door can you hear a hissing of refrigerant as it passes through the evaporator or is it more of a gurgle?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
No noise when door opened, the ' motor ' noise / buzzing just continues

OK go around the back and put your hand on the motor, is it cold, warm or hot?

Difficult to say... I live alone and am unable to move the freezer out to check, sorry
