Hotpoint CTD80 Dryer. Display was faulty but otherwise

Customer Question

Hotpoint CTD80 Dryer. Display was faulty but otherwise working. Changed control board, fault remained. Returned original control board and changed the display board and all seemed ok, however now motor not running and Fault F2 comes up.

Hi

F02 is a motor common wiring issue.

This is either the wiring disconnected on the control board or motor.

The motor itself at fault or the control board.

Have you double checked the wiring connections on the board to the motor?

Check the blocks on the control board are in the correct place.

Then check the wires to the motor. You will have 2x red wires on one side of the capacitor, 2x black wires on the other side and then a white wire that goes to a push connection. Check that is in the correct as well.

The motor wiring goes to connection block J3 on the control board so check that and make sure its in the correct place.

Check them and see what you find and let me know.

Regards

J3 is re-inserted in the correct place, and nothing else looks broken / missing. The motor was working fine before I switched out the display board. Sometimes it appears to run the pump, but the motor never runs dispite the display counting down and showing drying for a bit.

Hi

Ok if the wiring blocks are ok then its either the motor itself or the control board as that's the only parts that will cause this.

If you have a multi meter you can test the motor. Theres 3 wires on the motor Test between all 3 and you should get a reading between them all. If you don't then the motor is faulty.

But if you do then its the control board at fault as that's all that's involved in the motor circuit.
