We have a samsung rsh1DBRS, the fridge portion has stopped

Customer Question

Hi there- we have a samsung rsh1DBRS, the fridge portion has stopped cooling. freezer is still working. we have just unplugged the fridge for 10min to see if it will re-set. We also made sure it wasn't in 'demo' mode...when we did that, we did hear the fan and possibly the compressor kick in, we left fridge for an hour and it still isn't working, so we just unplugged it. any ideas?

Hi

What you will find is the fridge evaporator and fan in there will be blocked with ice stopping the air flow around the fridge section.

What you need to do is either empty the freezer and from there remove the back panel in the bottom half. Behind there is the evaporator. If this is blocked with ice you need to use a hairdryer and defrost it from there.

Also in the back panel is the fan. Make sure this is free as well as ice can build up in there as well.

Or if you dont want to go removing panels then you need to turn the appliance off for 24 hours and keep the fridge door open and this will defrost itself from there.

Then retry it and fingers crossed this cures it from there. Try that and see what happens.
