Customer Question

how can I get into the pump on a whirlpool dishwasher model No ADP 4501/5 serial No.851150415820

Already Tried:
I have stripped the machine down with one side and botton front panel off. The problem is a constant rattle while the machine is working

Hi, It's not an easy job. You'll need to unplug machine, remove the front cover and toe plate, lay the machine on its left side and remove the base. Then you will have access to the pump. Panel edges are very sharp. hope this helps. ed

Customer replied 258 days and 11 hours ago.

This is the stage that I am at, I have done all that has been suggested but it appears to be almost impossible to get into or remove the pump

I'm going to reopen your question to an expert more familiar with your specific model. ed

Not for me. I don't have hands on experience with your model. I don't want to guess. but you should post it. Any other expert looking at your question will see everything we have discussed. It may help them. ed

Hiya,

What is the actual problem you are having getting the pump off?

.

Thanks

Customer replied 257 days and 4 hours ago.

how does one remove the whole pump assembly from the machine as appears to be on large unit, and I have no exploded view drawings

Expert:  Fred Bloggs replied 257 days and 4 hours ago.

Hiya,

You don't need an exploded view.

You can see it all in your picture.

.

The metal tube is a heater.

The large item nearer the back is the pump.

.

You'll see the crimped clips holding the hoses to the pump and sump bowl.

.

Put a thin screwdriver into the crimp and "waggle" the screwdriver to slacken the clip a little.

Pull the heater off of the pump. (When refitting, tighten the crimp with a pair of side cutters).

Squeeze the ends of the clip on the other hose and take it off of the pump.

.

Disconnect the wiring and take the pump out.

.

If you want to dismantle the pump, the pump front part (the bit the hoses go onto) twists off of the motor.

.

Check it out, see what you find.

Normally, the pump is shot and you need to replace it.

The replacement is a different type of pump but is a direct replacement.

.

Check it out, see how you get on and get back to me if you need more help.

.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Thanks for the info I now have a knackered pump on my hands, you didn't say brute force and ignorance was the best way to twist it off,my next question is where do I get a replacement part and what is the part No.

I have already tried to get a smallpart for the rinse aid dispenser and been told I have to buy a complete rinsa aid unit as the seal is not considered a spare part £64.29

Hiya,

Sorry, it's just needs a bit of strength to get the pump apart. (once you've opened a few dozen of them, it gets easier).

.

The replacement pump can be obtained from www.espares.co.uk or www.4whirlpool.co.uk

.

It's fairly expensive though.

.

.

Do double check with the supplier on the part.

They'll use the 12 digit number beginning with 85 on your machine to identify the exact appliance.

.

It's a totally different motor but it does fit.

There are 2 slots on the base at the rear that the bracket of the motor fits into.

Then, you need 2 screws or bolts of a suitable size to secure it.

.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Hello again Fred

It's David could you help again. We have an Indesit 1300 spin washing machine, the only number i have at the moment is WIL 133.

I suspect that the problem is the incoming mains filter is burning out I saved it once before by replacing the danaged crimps but I suspect it has now gone beyond that.

Sorry not much time to expand on the message am trying to get to work this morning.

David
