Hi my hotpoint wdl540g washer dryer will not spin. the motor seems dead.
Already Tried: the motor is free and can be turned by hand, it fills and drains bt dosent spin.

I take it you have checked the belt have you?
Also are you getting any flashing lights from it?

the belt is fine and no flashing lights
Ok if the belt is fine but the drum isnt turning then you need to check the wiring on the side of the motor.
If thats all ok then you need to remove the motor and at the back either side are the carbon brushes.
Take them out and inspect them. See if they have worn down or got stuck. If worn then they will need to be replaced. If stuck free them off and refit.
Then retry the washer and see how it goes from there.
If the brushes are fine then you need to remove the control board on the back and see if it has blown. If so then it will need to be replaced.
Check it out and see what you find and let me know.
