Customer Question

We have a CDB 264-80 CANDY washer dryer. When we switch the machine on and set it to a programme and shut the door 2 lights light up immediately - top left hand flashes 90 bottom left hand flashes shirt symbol. Whatever programme we put it on this is the only mode it will go into. The last programme we used it on was a spin cycle and there was excessive vibration during the programme.

Thank you

SparePartsPro :

Hello There - My name is XXXX XXX I am more than happy to help with your question today.

The lights will flash a given number of times between pauses.
Count them and let me know how many.

Customer :

they flash 11 times

SparePartsPro :

That indicates a fault with the dryer program either with the wiring, the heater or the board.
Start by taking the lid off and identifying the heater.
Check the wiring to the heater is still intact.

Customer :

heaters cables ok

SparePartsPro :

It's worth check the heater element with your multimeter to see if it has gone open circuit.
The power board for the dryer is in the base of the appliance so with the back panel off trace the heater wires down to the board.
Remove the board for inspection.

Customer :

ok will repy in 30n mins

SparePartsPro :

No problem.

Customer :

heater ok board out looks ok may be poss dry joint

SparePartsPro :

Yes dry joint can cause arcing and burn a relay out.

Customer :

how can to test to find out

Customer :

how can i test it to find if this is it

SparePartsPro :

Dry joints appear on the amp tags for the heater, resoldering is the only option.
The relay can be tested using your meter to check that the contacts make and break.

Customer :

where is the relay

SparePartsPro :

On the power board you are looking at.

Customer :

ok come back to later

SparePartsPro :

Ok no problem.

Customer :

cant get into board sealed unit does this mean new board

SparePartsPro :

I can't say that. When you checked the heater element what resistance did you get.

Customer :

not to good with meter think it is 26.4

SparePartsPro :

Did you test it with the terminal wires disconnected.
What range is the meter set to.

Customer :

yes sensor still connected 2000 at 200 it is 0.26

SparePartsPro :

I think I know what you mean so we assume the heater is ok.
No loose connections.
Earlier on today you said you had the board out and suggested a dry joint.
Later on you said you couldn't check it because it was a sealed unit.
Unless you can give me the information I ask for I won't be able to remotely diagnose this fault for you.
I need you to do the checks on my behalf.
The error you have is telling you there is a fault in the dryer circuit.
There is not a lot more I can tell you about this other than what has already been mentioned.
Of course the heater will be protected by the temperature limiter sensor you have already mentioned so unless this has either gone open circuit or out of range you will have to go check everything again before you consider changing the module.

Customer :

ok will come back to you later tonight thanks

SparePartsPro :

OK no problem.

Customer :
