The door falls down when opened. It seems the spring is broken. Is this something I can get the spares for and replace myself - I am in France.
Have tried to get model number but can't find it on the machine.
Hi, welcome to Just Answer. My name is XXX XXX I will be helping you with your problem today. If anything isnt clear, please just ask me.
Can you tell me the make and type of appliance please
It's a diplomat but I can't find any further details on the machine
what is it?
dishwasher, oven what?
Dishwasher - sorry, I thought this part of the forum was only for dishwashers!
if you look along the door edge and recess there should be a data plate with the model number
This would have originally been sold through MFI, strange its landed up in France
Thanks - found it. Label reads 8122/1 Type 3.M1.520311220100.
We inherited the machine when we bought the house a couple of years ago. Strangely the label aslo says Made in France!
let me check for you
there are two springs, one either side of the door
one or both are broken
You would need to remove the lid and the two metal side panels
I dont think the parts are available in France, but are available in the UK
do you have friends in the UK that can send them to you?
Yes - that can be arranged. Can I fit them myself? I'm reasonably competent in that area but a bit cautious when it comes to springs! Also, can you give me an idea of cost as it's an old machine and we need to decide if it's worth it. I suspect both spring have gone as the problem developed in two stages
Its fairly easy, just disconnect from power first
they are cables rather than springs
I hope this answers your question and you rate my answer well
PS, i am going out for about an hoiur, if you have a further question, I will reply on my return
Thanks Rob. Final question - are fitting instructions included with the spares - can't find mention of this on the BuySpares website
There wont be instructions as these are supplied to service engineers
You should see how to attach them to the bottom of the door and the side of the cabinet, esecially as one may well still be in place
If you are unsure, look before you order them
