I have a 2 year old american style Siemens fridge freezer. Two doors. One side is freezer, working perfectly. Other side is fridge compartment. nothing is cold. Light is on. I have hoovered the back after unscrewing the bottom back panel which was FULL of dust. Plugged it back in, but still not cold. There is a small plastic fan built in at the bottom at the back (after unscrewing the panel). This is not turning. Is this supposed to turn constantly? Can't work out the model/make as the sticker inside has been removed. Don't have the original manual either
Already Tried: Unscrewed back bottom panel and hoovered. Unscrewed front bottom air vent and hoovered. Turned down the temperature.
If the freezer is working like you said and is frosty cold, then the problem lies with the fan motor. The fan is a needed component that supplies the cold air from the freezer to the food section by means of the fan. You need to get a volt meter on that fan motor plug and see if you have voltage. If you DO have voltage the fan is bad and will need to be replaced. My other question might be is how did the label get removed?Without the model info there will be no way to supply you with a motor if needed. Your only option would be to go back to where you bought it and see if you can find a new fridge similar to the one you have and get the model of it, so you can order a motor if needed.
Hithanks for your reply! Funnily enough, after I asked for your help, I went on google again, and one of the "maintenance" advice given is to unscrew the front bottom panel shelf and hoover, and also unscrew the back bottom panel and hoover on a regular basisl. When I unscrewed the back panel, I found the fan not working. I hoovered and there was a LOT of fluff and dust, from probably 2 years ago, when the original owners first purchased the fridge. Not knowing whether this would help, I put it all together again (with crossed fingers!), and switched back on again. After one hour, I reopened the back panel, and viola, the fan was working again! So you were right in your diagnosis, and I was a very good engineer! Thank you for that!
Glad you got it working
Oh dear, woke up this morning after leaving fridge. And it is still not working! Don't know what problem is! I thought I sorted it out, but hey ho! I have called out the Siemens Engineer! i live in Abu Dhabi, and these people are few and far between! Not very well trained, so here's hoping! Parts are also hard to come by! The person we bought the fridge off, took off the sticker inside the fridge which is very annoying and she didn't give us the manual! Is there any other way to find out the model? I did find something on the fan/compresser area called MK 183Q L2U, thinking it was the model number, but when I googled Siemens, nothing came up with fridge/freezers like that. As I said it is about 2-3 years old. Where would I find this number on Siemens website? Really need some advice!
No those numbers are useless. Is the fan running? If not you need to get a volt meter and check for power to the motor. We can see about any parts when we find out why its not working.
ok! When the engineer comes today, I will try and see. I see those numbers when I googled them are for a compressor, but it comes up as a Samsung compressor. I hope he knows what he is doing. I will be one ahead of him and ask him to check the fan withthe volt meter! If he doesn't have one, I will know he is useless! Can I keep you updated? I see your time is 11.36pm so you are probably in the States and not in the UK!
Yes you are correct. US time 10:53pm here Hopefully he an repair it for you. While you are waiting, google for a Siemens fridge and see if you can see one online that looks like yours. You may be able to possibly use that model number in place of yours to look up any parts. Just an idea :)

Hi thanks so much for getting back to me! Well the Siemens Engineer came, found the make and model and straight away also found the problem. The fan in the FREEZER part is not working! I never even thought of looking in there as the freezer was working! Thank you so much for your help!
great glad you got it fixed!
