I have a Hoover HNF 7147, when i turn it onto a spin cycle it starts to spin then after about 10 seconds it stops and the start and delay start lights start to flash. They flash 7 times then stop.
Already Tried: tried turning the power off and trying again. still the same
Hiya,
There's a fault in the motor and the machine is detecting a high current draw.
This brings up the 7 flash error indicating a jammed motor. (I know it's not jammed, however, when a motor jams, there is a high current draw).
This is very likely the motor at fault but it may also have damaged the control board.
If you put the machine on spin only with nothing in it, does it work?
Thanks
When i just the machine on spin it starts spins fast, spins again then stops and displays the same fault lights
OK, thanks for that.
Does the machine start slowly and build up to fast spin or does it just immediately go into fast spin?
it goes straight into a fast spin
Very strange.
When it's on wash or rinse, does it tumble properly or just go straight into a fast spin?
just did a rinse, it filled with water, then went into 2 straight fast spins before stopping
The machine is detecting no motor movement, hence the "jammed motor" fault.
Unplug the appliance.
Take the rear panel off.
Check the 2 thin wires that go to the end of the motor (far end).
If ok, check the corresponding wires in the plug.
This is the tachometer on the motor.
Take the motor out.
Check the tachometer, see if the magnet has broken.
If all ok, you'll likely need a new motor and/or control board.
Check the wiring first, this is common.
Check it at the motor, motor plug and the plug to the control board.
Sorry, not a simple quick fix and it could be an expensive one.
Check it out, see what you find and get back to me.
Hope this helps

ok took the rear cover off, reached round to front of motor to check wires and the tachometer fell into my hand followed by a magnet on a screw thread. screwed this back in, pushed on the tachometer and now my machine is spinning away nicely in the background.
thank you very much for your help,.
