I have a Maytag SOV225GB Fridge Freezer and the fridge door has dropped. The door is now rubbing on the freezer door. The plastic hinge bush at the top of the door appears to have worn. How is it replaced? Many thanks for your help!!
Optional Information: Brand: Maytag SOV225GB Type of Appliance: Refrigerator Already Tried: I can lift the door and see the amount of wear in the bush
Hi
To replace the hinge bush you need to empty the fridge door.
Pull out and remove the plastic cover on the top of the door hinge.
With this off you will see 3 bolts. Remove these and then the door will just lift off.
Then from there you will be able to replace the bush from there.
Regards
Sounds easy but the fridge end of the plastic cover is under the stainless steel top lip,
so not easy to get a screw driver under that end or even see that end of the cover. The cover will only go up a small amount even using a small screw driver to try and prize it up. I am trying doing this with the door open at 90 degreesas it is not possible to move any parts with the door closed as the plastic cover is under the steel surrund return on the door top. What am I not doing correctly?
Sorry for the delay.
If your appliance has the cladding on it then the top will need to be removed. If you pull the fridge out there will be a few screws holding the top on. Remove these then you will be able to remove the cladding top and get access to the hinge.
No success so far.
I have removed the 2 srews at the back of the fridge, one on either side that appear to hold down the top. But it will only go up about an 1/8 inch one side and not at all on the other side. The fridge door is beginning to rub on the other door now. Are you fimiliar with this particular frdge freezer?
HiSorry for the delay. Also my fault ment to say there 2 screws at the front on the underside holding the top on. Open both doors and look under the cladding roof in each corner and there is a screw there. With these off the top will then come off. Regards
There are no screws inside the fridge holding the top down. There are only 3 screws that hold the temp indicator and light. There is nothing underneath this. The top does not have a return under for any screws to go into. The top just lips over the front. Are you sure you are familiar with this model?
Yes i am familiar with this model as i hyave replaced them before.
I will opt out now as if you cannot see the screws but the service info and from prev repairs ive done theres been the screws there, theres not much more to tell you im afraid.
If anyone one eles can help they will jump in.
If you think it will help I can send some pictures.
