Diplomat was a brand name used by MFI.

Since MFI went bust, there has been no service department for Diplomat.

How many buttons does your timer have?

5 or 6?

What are they labeled?

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

5 Buttons

1. Minute minder

2. Cook Time

3. Ready Time

4. minus

5. plus

Instructions are to hold down buttons 2 & 3 whilst using 4 & 5 to set time

The A for Auto symbol is supposed to disappear and be replaced with a cookpot symbol confirming that is then set a manual

OK, thanks for that.

There is a possibility the timer is faulty.

However, try pulling all the buttons out of it then refitting them.

Try the instructions from the manual first.

If this doesn't work, turn the power off.

Wait 5 minutes, turn on and press the 1st 2 buttons on the left.

Hold them and press the + button.

Let me know what happens.

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Tried what you suggested - No Luck.

Then hit panel with my fist and guess what, I then carried out the procedure given in the handbook and it is now working satisfactorily

Thanks for letting me know how it went.

I would suspect a stuck button in the timer.

Good luck with the appliance.
