Hiya,

Do you get any flashing lights?

When you try to use the machine, what exactly happens?

Does the door actually lock? (Not just click shut but actually lock).

Does the drum turn?
Does the pump run?

Does the machine take in water?

Thanks

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

No flashing light, just the normal ones are lit.

door closes fully with click

Drum does'nt turn.

Pump dose'nt run.

no water goes into the machine, it just sits there !

Regards

Hiya,

Sorry, does the door lock?

Closing with a click doesn't indicate that it's locked.

If it's locked you are unable to open it until the lock releases at the end of the programme.

Thanks

Yes the door does LOCK

Hiya,

Unplug the appliance and take the rear panel off.

Check the wiring to the motor plug.

If ok, unplug the motor plug and take the belt off.

Take the bolts holding the motor in place out.

Take the motor out.

Check the carbon brushes on the motor to see if they are worn out or broken.

If they are, you'll need to replace them.

Once replaced, reassemble the appliance and try again.

If the brushes are ok, you will need to have, and be able to use, a multimeter to test the motor and other components. Let me know if you have and can use a multimeter if you need more help.

Hope this helps

Let me know how it goes or if you need more help

Thanks

How much will an service engineer charge to have this done ?

Regards

Expert:  Techdesk replied 5 years ago.

Hiya,

It depends on who you get to do the work.

Independant engineers will charge anything from £40 to £100 for call out and labour, plus parts on top.

The price of the parts will largely depend on the engineer's mark up on cost.

Indesit charge around £108 inclusive of parts.

You need to call them to find out about their latest repair schemes and prices.

Click here to find an independant service engineer in your area.

Fill in your details and see if there's recommended engineer near you.

If there is, select an engineer and they should call you to discuss the job.

You should be able to get an idea of cost.

Bear in mind, I've advised on the most likely cause.

If it turns out the motor is faulty, the cost of the parts would soar.

Hope this helps

Thanks
