Hi, I have a servis m0337 fridge freezer (frost free). for the past number of days all 3 lights flash intermittently. Yesterday, they flashed all day. Today the lights are back to normal. The compressor seems to have stopped yesterday, as does the fan. The freezer is cold (created ice cubes yesterday), but only the bottom half of the fridge is cool, as the fan is not running.
Hiya,
The normal cause of this is an ice blockage in the freezer evaporator.
You would have to take the panel off the rear inside of the freezer to check the fan and the evaporator.
Defrost the freezer and the fridge will start working again if it is an ice blockage.
Hope this helps
Thanks
Hi,I have a feeling that it is slightly worse than that. There has been no sound from the compressor since yesterday, and no sound after you open and close the door. i cleaned the coils at the back, but the water trap on top of the compressor is bone dry. the applicance is about 4.5 years old, i dont want to buy a new one if there is only something simple wrong. wait!!! - my wife just shook the freezer trays roughly, and the fan has come on. forthe past 2 weeks the freezer has been colder than normal, with thick ice. The lighs have started flashing again, since the fan has started !!
If it's thick with ice, or has been. Totally defrost the appliance then try it again.
For a total defrost, at least 24 hours with the doors open.
These problems are very common on Servis products, probably part of the reason they've gone bust.
Try the defrost, a build up of ice will cause problems of this type.
Hi,Are you ok with me defrosting and seeing if it works before we close off the session? I hope you are right, but i have a feeling it isnot goingto work!!
Yep, no problems with that.
Once we've done the defrost it will rule out a lot of potential causes.
Good luck with it,
Hi,It was late today before i could empty the fridge, so it will probably be monday before i turn it back on. talk thenJ
Hi,Defrosting is complete. However i have made matters worse by the way of the oldest mistake in the book. So now the Fan blade needs to be replaced. -- the fan still works, although no longer balanced. I turned the freezer on with outout the fan blade (as i am afraid the unbalanced fan blade will damage the fan itself. The compressor started, and the freezer began to cool. The freezer warning light did not come on immediately, but did after 1/2 hour. (light to say freezer is not correct temp). I then inserted the fan blade, and turned the fridge on. The fan started up. In the fridge, i placed a Cola Can in from of the vent on the lowest part of the fridge, with a small piece of tissue beside. This was an approach to see if A) the tissue would move in any way when observed, or B) if the Cola can would start to become cooler. Neither happened. (Fan was running for all of this time). Then all 3 warning lights began flashing again, as per my original problem. I have bought a larder fridge to keep the family going until our problems are resolved. Any ideas?
OK, thanks for that.
That makes testing the appliance rather awkward.
The machine should have been reassembled before starting up, covers off and no fan mean no air to the fridge. Everything is integrated and has to be there for it to work properly.
Defrost it, put everything back on and then try the machine. (not sure what difference a damaged fan is going to make).
It will take several hours to come down to temperature.
If all 3 lights begin flashing and are still flashing after several hours it would suggest that the thermistors and/or control board may be faulty.
Hope this helps.
its is all back together and on (this is how i tested it earlier). the fan is making a vibrating noise. Not sure how long before it damages the bearings on the motor. THe freezer got cold very quickly last night. Are there flaps that are opened and closed to allow air to the fridge, or is it just the fan the pushes the air up?. Fan comes on when expected, but no air to the fridge.
In the fridge, most likely behind the centre column at the rear wall will be an air diffusor of some sort.
There will be a damper that opens and closes.
This is controlled by a sensor in the fridge.
Unfortunately the exploded diagram isn't too clear on the position of these.
The damper I think is on the rear of the inside and the sensor on the right hand wall.

Hi,Just took as many panels of the inside as possible. 1st, none of the panels were tight, looks like the last repairman broke most of the clips that hold it together. (we had ice on the fan last year). This meant that some of the seals between vents were separated, preventing the correct direction of air. Inside the fridge, at the top is the "electric Vent", and this is working, as i have seen it open and close. However this control unit had also seperated from the from the vent, preventing the fridge from controlling its temp. This leaves me to wonder... up to a few weeks ago we had a problem where the fresh veg tray was too cold, and the separated vent and control unit explains this. however, unless the separation of the cover and the vent in the freezer (which means the freezer air was been circulated around the freezer and not up into the fridge) is the only reason why the fridge is not cool, what else could it be. The freezer got cold quickly today when i turned it on, indicating the compressor is working fine.
Did you get any cooling into the fridge at all?
If not, then there is no cold air getting from the freezer to the fridge.
This can only be ducting, fan or blocked evaporator.
You've defrosted so it can't be the evaporator.
Sorry, if you're not getting cooling and everything is clear and running ok, I'm stumped.
Sorry
I'll order a new fan blade tonight, and test with it. I'm happy with the help you have given me, but i'll leave this session open until the fan arrives, in case i have any more questions, if that is ok. Regards J
No problem with that.
I'm happy to keep answering questions as long as you're trying to repair the appliance.
Good luck with it.
Hi Fred,Just going to buy a new one, its buggered!!!
It's probably the best choice.
Servis UK went bust last year, we cringe when a customer gets us out to one of their appliances.
Sorry, we couldn't get it working though.
Good luck with whatever you decide to buy.
Thank you for the payment, it is appreciated.
