If you turn the tv off and back on , do you get a brief flash of the screen ?
O.k then and are some part of the screen brighter than others or is this evenly dark ?
O.k then it would appear you have a defective LED driver board .
Did you have in mind to look into repairing this yourself or simply would like to have an idea of what is involved and the costs of repair ?
That board cost some $50 by the way and is easy to replace
O.k then there are 2 versions of it , can you look near the TV's model number for the version number ?
Will look like UD03 , UF03 etc.
Thats correct it is the power supply/led driver board both in one
There is a BN44-00667A and BN44-00497A
Yes it will be on the bar code sticker and within the string of numbers
It may also be printed directly on the board
Good enough , give me a few please

I`m surprised then it can only mean the backlighting strips ; http://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-bn96-21487a-bn96-24147a-bn96-24148a-led-strips-12-strips-interface-board.htm
But this is not an easy job like replacing that power board , you can get an idea here , not your model but same job ;
You should be able to return that power board by the way
Are you still able to see the TV's own menu anyway ?
Have you tried and see if you can get any control over the backlight adjust as well as brightness and contrast ?
see if it has any control , I doubt you will be able to bring back the picture to normal though
There should also be a backlight control in that menu and that would be the one that has the most effect (if any)
I just checked and there is a backlight control in the picture menu
But it does vary ?
Even slightly if you turn it up/down ?
O.k then I just wanted to know if the main board had some control over the failed backlight system
Just to make sure this was not a main board fault.
In that case that leaves only those strips as culprit
Did yo look at that youtube video ?
As I said , not your tv but same thing
gave you a link above for those strips but you will have to verify the lcd panel number (at the back) with what is listed at that link , here it is again; http://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-bn96-21487a-bn96-24147a-bn96-24148a-led-strips-12-strips-interface-board.htm
