Regarding the tv, this set is 2-3 times the life we'd expect of an insignia product. They are very poor quality and usually very short lived, but this actually does not sound like a tv failure at this point.
Wait, I don't think this is a tv issue though,
meaning the tv may not be faulty. From what you are describing, you more likely just have a faulty cable box or the tv is on the wrong input,
Try this, just take the insignia remote and press the INPUT (source) button, repeatedly, until you hit on whichever input mode (hdmi1, hdmi2, etc) where the cable box is connected, and that may bring the picture/sound back.
