Have TV Questions? Ask a TV Technician
Hello, My name is ***** ***** I'll be assisting you. I'm sorry you're having problems. I'm reviewing your details now and will reply shortly.
Can you please get me the model number off the back of the TV you're having problems with?
I'm not available by phone. Please simply reply back when you have that model number.
Did you need assistance with this?
Thanks, ***** ***** actually be an LG "47LN5750" which is an LCD set. Now you mentioned you only get a quick flash of light when you power the TV up. Can you please check and see if the LG MENU will display on the screen using the MENU button on the LG remote? If it does not- please let me know if your screen is "Backlit" (meaning slightly lighter than if the set were off).
Then this indicates a fault with the backlighting in the screen- which is a failure within the set (no settings, etc. will fix this since you can't see the TV's MENU any how). In most cases you're looking at a faulty Power Supply/LED driver board, or in some cases the lighting built into the LCD screen itself is at fault.
However it's worth it to try a hard reset, as sometimes the processor in the TV can simply have locked up.
The first thing you would try, is disconnect the set from power, then press and hold the power button on the TV itself (not the remote), for 10 seconds and release. Then plug the set back in, and also check that the power cord is connected tight at the TV as well. Press power once, and see if the set powers up normally. Try this procedure up to 2 times, and please let me know what happens.
Simply reply back after you tried the steps.
