Customer Question

I have quite an old Hitachi TV which I'm wondering if it's worth fxing
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Hitachi is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: The model is a Hitachi C5068FS
JA: Does the TV menu work? Do you have the same problem on all sources/inputs?
Customer: I have sound but no picture
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: One day it worked and the next it didn't. It was quite sudden
JA: Anything else you want the TV expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No not really just if it's worth fixing or time to buy a new TV

Hi and welcome to the site, I’m Louie. Sorry you had to wait awhile but I’ll do my best to help.

Initially and based on "...sound but no picture ...", is the screen all blue, black or white ?

Do you think this old TV is worth fixing ?

Hello Louie are you there ?

Thanks for allowing me time to review the repair/Service Manual and compose this reply.

This is a 1998 model and the parts are no longer readily available. Other than parts availability, the service fee would be a major concern depending on the going rate in your location if not considering a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair.

As a user / opinion - It would then appear to be to your advantage to evaluate other options considering cost of repair, down time, cost of shipping, age, parts availability and comparable prices of newer/better models; i.e. replace rather than repair.
