-Are you talking about the original Vizio remote or a cable/sat/universal remote?

Please try unplugging the tv power cord for 3 full minutes, plug back in, then test if the remote works or not.
You can also test the IR output of your remote with a digital camera/phone camera:-point the remote at the camera lens-press buttons on the remote-watch the camera screen-you should see a flashing light coming from the tip of the remote
