Customer Question

I have message RGB2 and it won't come on
JA: Just to clarify, what's the exact make and model of your machine?
Customer: It is VERY old maybe PD425000 VA plasma CMPA514
JA: Does the TV menu work? Do you have the same problem on all sources/inputs?
Customer: It won't stay on. As soon as I turn it on the RGB2 message appears then it turns itself off
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: just happened now. Maybe there was a quick power outage?
JA: Anything else you want the TV expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No thx

Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

If the TV shows 'RCA2' and then turns Off, that's a rather puzzling thing.

Since this model of TV has two RCA ports, or port rows perhaps, then that may refer to a problem detected in the RCA2 board inside - probably, if so, a problem severe enough that the TV shuts itself down protectively, thus probably a short-circuited RCA2 board too, as well as simply 'defective'.

I admit I have not found any references to 'RCA2' as a diagnostic error message. Are you using the Hitachi TV's original remote control by any chance? If you are using a universal remote, then the RCA2 might not be an error message at all.

But anyway, one thing is quite clear: your TV turns itself Off. Therefore it most likely needs repairing.

Do you wish to do self-repair on it, or would you rather have the repair hired out?

Let me know, so that I may advise you as appropriate. Thanks.
