Hello and welcome to JustAnswer.com! My name is ***** ***** I will do my best to help you.

Yes, if the TV is laying flat on a soft surface, no problem.

Also, you can support the edges by a towel, rolled up carpet etc.

The only thing I would advise against is transporting a Plasma TV in the horizontal position. The flex of the panel may damage itself.

Are you trying to repair this TV, or installing a mount?

There is power on the cord

Laying it down will not harm it in any way. They most stress in a TV like this would be in transport.

I have laid down dozens of TVs and never had an issue.

The issue may be with the TV itself. Many TV faults occur after power is removed, you should always remove power and restart before touching the TV itself.29 Oct 2016, 10:00 PM

I have had many TVs be broken for 6 months +, then they are unplugged and they stop working,

Not due to setting a TV down gently, however.
