JA: What's the exact make and model of your television? And what have you tried as far as getting this connected goes?
Customer: Element TV
JA: Does the TV menu work? Do you have the same problem on all sources/inputs?
Customer: yes tried connecting it and doing auto scan for channels it says so many channels found but nothing connects
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: I have direct tv connection in my apartment but it was in my husbands name so disconnected that and wanted the connection in my name
JA: Anything else you want the TV expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Now all wires dis assembled do not have a cable connection now since direct tv customer support sucks

all was working well
just a matter of getting connections right
we have free direct tv in our apartment complex
had to disconnect previous connection as it was in husbands name and also had DVR connected

So the lead that comes into the apartment is it a coax lead that goes into the antenna socket OR is it an INPUT lead that goes into one of the inputs on the set for example HDMI?

I am not sure I know what you are asking. There is no antenna, no box. Wall cable outlet is currently connected directly to TV.

Apartment complex possibly has a box for the building nothing inside the apartment. Wall outlet cable goes directly to DTV/TV on Element TV

OK it can only work in that case either with the set in "cable " mode or the set may need to be in analogue mode so please get me the model number off the back of the set so I can see what you have there thanks

DTV wont work thats for over-air channels but you say you are getting piped directtv so DTV wont work

I am completely new to connecting TV . Sound like a country bumpkin but that is exactly where I am. I sent you a picture of the serial number, guess that may not been useful

These things take some figuring out my belief is the set is in the wrong mode I can only help further if you post the model number (serial number no good), its not "trying" to help its a logical troubleshooting method , however its your call
