My television seems to lose power momentarily. it keeps

my television seems to lose power momentarily. it keeps flashing black then the "Enjoy select ....." comes up and the remote isn't responding to anything other then power.
JA: What's the make and model of your tv, and can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: it's a panasonic Viera model TC-50AS660C bought february 2015
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: different hdmi cables. plugged in my other tv to rule out the cable box. different batteries in the remote too.
JA: The TV expert can solve this for you. Anything else you want him to know before I connect you two?
Customer: nothing that i can think of

Can you elaborate on that " Enjoy select ..... " , what does it say there in full , is it like the first time setup ?

It is the "Enjoy select internet content with Apps for Smart VIERA. Simply press the APPS button"
it comes up typically when turning on.
now it's every minute or so.

Try this ; press and hold the REAR POWER button (on the tv itself) for 5+ secs and you should see "set viewing mode" select HOME

Sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with this but I’ll do my best to help you out.

When this happens, do you see the red light on the front of the tv flashing?
Does it happen on all sources/inputs? (cable, dvd, etc)

Hi Nathan,the red light doesn't do anything when this happens and the tv isn't reacting to the remote to change inputs.
currently the tv isn't hooked up to a signal and it is still occuring.

Will the tv respond to any of the onboard buttons (power, volume, menu, input)?

on the unit, it responds to the power button, with the channel, volume and input button; it shows on the screen that they are being selected but nothing seems to happen.

a few seconds after it does whatever it is doing, i can get into the options across the top with the "up" button on the remote but can't do anything useful in the options.

Okay lets try a reset process before we do anything else:
Press and hold the volume down button on the tv itself, while simultaneously pointing the remote at the tv and holding down the MENU button there.

hold until tv powers off then back on, and test for functionality.

i held everything down for around 2 minutes. a "Self Check Complete" came up with a bunch of info on the screen but it didn't ever turn off.

nothing seems to respond now including powering off. The Self Check is still on the screen though

Did it show any error/problems on the self check screen?
Unplug power for a minute to get it out of that mode and let me know if the problem continues.

no errors. listed a bunch of H... OK in one column, sone letters and numbers in the next column and Model ID with a bunch of numbers.

can't get past that. screen goes black still for a second and isn't responding to any remote buttons or panel buttons other than power on both

forgot to mention. while holding the buttons down, it said something about "Shipping" on the screen.

Right because that factory reset process is clearing all settings and restoring it back to its shipping condition.

It seems to be stuck on the viera apps screen at the moment.

Repeat the reset process again please.

If it is stuck there, you can try to power off/on, or unplug again for a few minutes.

Something else is going on here, there may be an underlying hardware fault,

lets try a different process:

1) Unplug the power cord from the outlet

2) Wait at least 1 hour (60+ Minutes)

3) Press and hold the power button (on the set, not the remote) for 60 seconds
4) Keep holding power button while plugging back in, and for another 60 seconds after. When plugging back in, go directly to the wall outlet, bypassing any power strips or surge protectors.

let it sit unplugged for about 80 minutes, still the same screen doing the same thing. :(

That is really indicating a hardware issue at this point then unfortunately.

The last thing we could try is to update the firmware on the tv manually.

follow the prompts to download and install,

you'll have to skip a few steps as you can't check your current version obviously, but this is the latest so worst case it just won't do anything if you already have the same one.

You'll connect the usb drive with power turned off, then turn the tv on and hopefully it will recognize and load the update file

it acknowledged that I plugged in a flash drive but after 5 or so seconds the attached showed up

It looks like you may not have the file on the drive properly.

You cannot copy the actual zip file, you have to open it and put the update file inside on the root directory of the drive
