Hi
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Hi, Jack.
Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

Hello

Is the screen just blank with some background light or completely dark like when the tv is off ?
If you`re not sure then darken the room and turn the tv off and on again while you observe the screen .

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Screen dark, no background light. Messages come on screen, but no TV picture.
Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

What message , "no signal " ?

Any message on the screen means the screen is lit and that is what I was asking

Can you see the tv`s own menu for example ?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
I can see the menu.
Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

O.k then check you input connections

What do you have connected to it anyway ?

Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

And how is it connected ?

Color coded cables or HDMI ?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Cable box
Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

What type of cables for the connection ?

At this time the TV's model number might come in handy as well ??

Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

Pull the cable box power cord out for 20 secs and leave the tv on then see if anything show up on the screen while it reboots ?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Emerson model LC320EM1F. Red, yellow and white cable hooked up TV to Cable box. White cable hooked up TV to DVD.
Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

O.k then red/white and yellow would be rca type plug and a composite connection but that white cable for the dvd , what is that HDMI ??

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Its the white cable similar to the cable that you plug into the wall for cable TV/ Comcast
Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

Where did you connect those red/white/yellow cable ?

At the rear side below the HDMI 2 port ?

Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

O.k then you mean a dvd /vcr with coaxial out , in that case your tv needs to be set on channel 3 or 4 for that one and set to video input for the cable box and you need to have the yellow cable/plug connected in the GREEN video terminal that says Y , both on the tv and cable box

Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

What you missed here is that yellow plug in the green terminal .

You dont happen to have a spare stereo cable do you ,or two extra rca cables like you have now ?

You could have a component connection with 5 cables and get a much better picture

Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

Better yet , does your cable box have a HDMI out terminal at the back ?

A $10 HDMI cable would really fix all this and give you the best picture

Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

Here is the manual for this tv by the way ; http://www.funaiservice.com/manuals/EMERSON/LC320EM2/LC320EM2.pdf

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
There are HDMI 1 and 3 ports in the rear with red/yellow and white receptacles. There is an HDMI 2 port with r/y/w receptacles on the side. I have an extra white round cable. Where would it go. There is no other spot for it.
Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

yu already have one in the antenna /cable terminal dont you ?

Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

antenna input is just below those color code cables on the side , look on page 10 of the manual

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
antenna.
Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

well that round coaxial cable would go there

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
It is there.
Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

yes and ???

What is on the other hand of that cable ?

Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

other end I mean

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
DVD
Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

Have you got the cable box working yet ?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
The other end of the r/y/w is hooked up to the cable box.
Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.

and is that working now ?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Sound, no picture. -----What's with the green terminal statement?
Expert:  Jack replied 3 months ago.
