I have a message that says "check connected device's power, cable Connection and source selection" I checked all and I cannot get a picture or sound
JA: Just to clarify, what's the exact make and model of your machine?
Customer: Samsung , not sure of the model
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: check everything the message said to check
JA: The TV expert can solve this for you. Anything else you want him to know before I connect you two?
Customer: I have power, my cable is connected and the source is correct

Initially, please bear with us; re-confirm and post back with the complete model numbers of the TV and devices connected to it. Additionally, please describe how these devices are connected to the TV using what kind of cable(s).

Let's try two (2) tests:

  • see if the Yamaha would work in radio mode AM or FM;
  • directly connect the cable box to the Samsung TV by HDMI.

Please post back results / observations of the above once tried.

I have not replaced it but I used a cable from another tv to test the direct connect.

What is the "...direct connect..." please? ...or would it be the cable box directly connected to the Samsung TV by HDMI?

And is this a fresh / new install? ...or were all these working together before as expected and this no picture/sound just a recent issue?

All were working together for a long time. I attached a HDMI cable from the cable box directly to the TV and the response was the same as I had with the original connections. Same error message.

I understand.

Bear with me for a final test; use another known to be good HDMI capable source such as a DVD player (from another TV) + its also known to be good HDMI cable and directly connect to the Samsung TV's HDMI port (try all).

  • If it works, we will focus on the Yamaha RX-V671.
  • If not, then it would be an internal hardware issue with the UN55D6300SF.

Please post back results / observations of the above once tried.
