Customer Question

I have Mitsubishi WD65733 DLP TV. I got the white and black dots so I replaced DLP chip. TV goes on for 60 seconds and then shuts off. Yellow status light is solid. I put old chip back in to see if i had bad chip and it now does the same thing.

Hi Dan,

My name is***** will try my best to help you with your question.

A solid yellow status light usually indicates that the TV has overheated, or possibly the thermistor is faulty or disconnected. If the room is cool, and the TV's vents are not blocked, ensure at least four inches of clearance on all sides of the TV and clean the air filter on the lamp cartridge. Then try turning the TV on again.

If the problem persists, test the thermistor for continuity.

Kindly rate my service 5 stars at the top of your question page if my answer helped so I am rewarded for my time; tips appreciated :)
Otherwise please reply back if you need further assistance.

When you mention the thermistor, is that the same as the heatsink?
Expert:  Pete replied 2 months ago.

No, the thermistor is a tiny electronic component that measures the temperature.

I am not in front of TV right now as I am at work. Are you working tonight so I can use the call in feature? I will be home in 1 hour or less.

I will be offline for the next 5 hours, however another expert may pick up the call request in my absence.
