Customer Question

Hello
I have a Samsung 75" flat screen. About 6 months ago ..tv would randomly start shutting off and on.I called a tv repair company and they have replaced the power board 3 times now. Most recently , 30 days ago. Now.. Without warning .. TV is now doing the random on off . I'm out of answers and almost broke from tv repairs. Any ideas?

Samsung
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Are you still with me?
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

OK I find it odd that they replaced the power-board usually for shutting down like this in many cases this is not the issue

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
What is the issue in your opinion ?
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

So what I need to know is when the set shuts down what is the status of the power-light in the front of the set?is it lit\blinking\what color is it?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Red.... Blinks a few times
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

OK and you are sure its the power-board they have replaced 3 times ?confirmed

Please give me upto 3 mins to reply thanks

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
its works fine for a few weeks if you were to look at the tv.face down its the board on the far left ..if that helps
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

The powerboard will have the powercord going to it

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

If that is the case then I am very surprised.....

Because right from the off I would not consider the power-board to be causing this issue

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
If you were to repair my tv.. What would you think the problem would be?
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

What I would be considering is bad firmware first , there is a firmware upgrade (assuming your set is not at this level of firmware) here

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

The firmware controls the main-board this is the sets "brain"

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Maybe I'm calling it the wrong thing ...main control board ?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
That it! The brain
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

Well if you call it the wrong thing please dont expect a right answer

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

So they have replaced the mainboard that is the one with the AV inputs on correct?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Ok .. That is a fare response
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I'm not sure about AV connections .i didn't handle it
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

Yes it s like saying to a mechanic the car wont start when the tires are down, yes it should have all the inputs (av inputs on)

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

Are you getting exactly the same symptoms with all 3 boards?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
sir
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Exactly
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

OK the first thing to do is check the firmware in that link above I sent at samsung make sure the firmware is the correct version in the guide then let me know

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Any suggestions ?
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

Please read above?please check the link I sent earlier about the firmware?

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

Here it is again check the firmware is the same version, so go into the settings of the set there will be a submenu that tells you the firmware version in comparason to the one at samsung

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Ok thanks
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

Sorry samsung have took it down

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

They did have an upgrade but have took it down

The repairer you used...is this set under warranty?or is this just some outfit you called?

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

If so what was the charge for the repairs?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Out of warranty
150 parts
100 service call
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

OK I am thinking here one min

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

Do you still have cover with this repair?

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

I was not going to send you this but I have suspicions about the repairs

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
on the brain .. Good god 90 days
Labor no
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

So you are saying that you could get a long run out of it before it shut down?this was ORIGINALLY

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I checked software .. All current it says
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

Before it went in for repairs

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

There are 2 possibilities here

1 They have not replaced the board for some reason and are saying they have

2 The power-board has an unusual problem and is causing this

OK what you should do now is get the back off the set and secretly mark that main-board maybe a scratch or something

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

Or ask them to get the mainboard and fit it yourself?yes thats the best idea

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

Its dead easy to fit

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

That way you wont pay labor again

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

I will help you with fitting but honestly its a plug in board really easy

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I was present and watched him switch it out. Guy really seems honest
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

wow

Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

I would be swapping out then in that case the power-board

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Tv is mounted on wall so had to help take off wall .. Place facedown and place back on wall
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Ok.. I just spoke with repair guy. He's gonna call Samsung tomorrow and see if we're missing something .. Then order a new board
Expert:  Anthony_Infotech replied 11 months ago.

OK yes its the next move with the set, in fairness these intermittent 30 day run faults are very difficult , the most difficult faults to find
